The Harmonized GAP Standard was an effort led by United Fresh involving hundreds of stakeholders to reduce the number of GAP audits in North America to a single common standard.  The goal was to build upon the success of GFSI recognition and extend this to USDA audits, retailer specific audits, and also combine the existing GAP standards.  NCSI Americas has been part of this effort from its inception and led the way by conducting the first two pilot audits.

The standard has been adopted by the USDA as well as GLOBALG.A.P, and organizations can now choose this for their GAP audits.

The standard has a focus on food safety, and does not cover any environmental, worker welfare or other surrounding issues.  Some food service organizations have already committed to adopting this standard throughout their supply chain.
